BPI Express Deposit Monster ATMs

I’m starting to think that pay days really aren’t my lucky days.

Bago ako mag-withdraw ng pay ko ay ni-plano kong mabuti ang scheme ko para may matitira pang pera kung sakaling ma-hold up ako habang naglalakad from Union Bank ATM Ayala Ave, kung saan ako magwi-withdraw, papuntang BPI Express Deposit ATM (100 meters away), ay matitira pa ako kahit papaano.

Nang mapansin ko na maliwanag pa pala sa kalsada at marami-rami pang tao sa Ayala, napag-isipan ko na mejo lakihan na ang ide-deposit. Eto na ang mga susunod na pangyayari:

I have tried to deposit 40 pieces of P500 bills (total of P20,000) using the Express Deposit ATM at your main BPI branch in Ayala Ave. cor. Paseo de Roxas St. in Makati last night, November 28, 2008 at around 10:30PM. I inserted the bills as I normally did and after the machine counted it, it gave a hardware malfunction error and advised to call the hotline to report the problem. I waited for a couple more seconds and it ejected my ATM card afterwhich the Express Deposit ATM displayed “Machine Unavailable.”

I informed the security officer about what happened. He allowed me to use their land line phone to call the trunkline. I was able to check my available balance and confirmed that the P20,000 I tried to deposit has not been reflected yet. I waited literally 19 minutes before I was able to speak to a phone banker. She said that she had already filed a report and that it would take 3 working days for the investigation and the amount to be credited to the account.

I am sending an email now for two things. First is to make sure and confirm from your email support department that on Thursday, December 4, 2008, the amount would already be reflected. Second, to file a formal complaint about your inefficient express teller machine. The phone banker advised me that it happened due to a scheduled system maintenance. The question that kept bothering me is “Why in the world would you allow an account holder to attempt a transaction 20 seconds before the scheduled maintenance if it really exists?” There should be a notification at least that “You would have to finish the transaction now because in 20 seconds we are going to a have a scheduled maintenance.” Your rotten system (which I have been very satisfied in the past) devoured all my money, gave me nothing in return and told me “Sorry. I don’t want to work right now.”

This is the first time I have been extremely disappointed with your service. Will be expecting immediate feedback.

So ganun na nga ang nangyari. Hindi nga ako na-hold up ng totoong tao pero ni-hold up ako ng isang makina. Mabuti na lang at may tinira pa akong pera. Kung sakali palang sinaid ko iyon, lagas ako habang naghihintay ng tatlong araw. Pagkatapos kong tumawag kagabi, naglakad ako sa Ayala ng maluha-luha at nagdadasal.

  1. Tawagan mo lang sila ng tawagan. Tapos, puntahan mo na mismo ‘yung main office nila. Kung pwede lang pagsasapakin ‘yang mga ‘yan e.

    E malay ba natin, malamang hindi naman sincere ‘yang nakausap mo sa telepono. Ang scheduled system maintenance na ‘yan, malamang e template/dialog lang na naisip sabihin ng kausap mo para lang may masabi (oo medyo hinuhusgahan kita phone banker).

    You may want to keep me updated kung ayos na ‘yan o hindi pa.

    Yesterday morning pumunta ako mismo sa branch ng BPI kung saan nilamon ng Express Deposit ATM yung pera ko. Sabi ng customer service representative for verification pa raw yung case pero di sure kung ma-credit the same day or Monday.

    Nangako ako sa sarili ko na pag hindi nila mabigay iyon yesterday di ko na talaga tangkilikin ang BPI ever.

    At long last, at exactly 4PM kahapon, binigay rin ang pera ko. Di ko na ulitin talaga iyon. T___T

    nung umuwi ako ng pinas nung 2001, bawat widthraw ko sa credit card ko sa isang UCPB bank ay merong nakiki widthraw din na parehong amount. na realize ko lang nung asa alemanya na ulit ako.

    imagine, more than 50,000 pesos yung nakuha nung mga lintek. mabuti na lang si kengkoy e sa bangko nag wowork kaya naayos agad nya. papano kaya kung isang taon ka sa pinas tapos pagbalik mo e wala ka ng pera dahil sa dami ng nakiki widthraw sa yo ano? kaya ngayon i use difft ATM machines na. katakot yata. add din kita sa blogroll ko :D

  5. Kengkay, kakaiba naman yung nangyari sa iyo? Nado-doble yung niwi-withdraw mo sa account without you knowing? Buti nasolusyonan mo kaagad. Pero ang naging mahirap siguro ay kung pano malaman sino gumagawa noh?

  6. Same thing happened to me last night. The express deposit machine ate my money! I got a receipt that says “transaction cancelled” and that they have “safekept my cash in the machine vault for verification and processing.” Since the branch where the machine was, was already closed, I called BPI hotline like it says on the receipt and an agent told me he’s filed a report and that I should wait two working days for it to be credited to my account. I called the branch this morning to inform them of what happened. The lady I talked to told me to go to the nearest branch and file a report in person. What’s the point of calling the hotline?! Anyway, I’ll have some free time tomorrow and I’m going to drop by my branch.

    I’m curious as to what happened to your 20K. Did they return it to you without further hassle??? Instead of offering new services, BPI should really try and fine-tune their old services first.

      From my records I received it at 4PM December 5, 2008. So that was exactly the fifth banking day (7 days after the incident) that I received the money again, contrary to the first turn around time that they gave me over the phone which should have been 3 banking days.

      I did the same thing that you did. I went to the bank three times to just to follow up. It was really a disappointment. I’m just glad that I had some spare money to spend then. I just considered everything as a form of “delayed gratification.” ^_^

      Good luck on your case. If they are doing it right you might actually receive it earlier than what happened to me.

      1. Thanks. I got my money back. It was credited within two working days like the agent said. Thank goodness! It was just 7K, but if I didn’t get it back, I’d be really pissed. XD

        I’ve heard other horror stories about BPI so I’m always wary about their services. Unfortunately, my company requires a BPI account.

        1. That’s good to hear Michelle! I’m still quite impressed with BPI though. I just need to be very careful next time. Deposit the amount by intervals, not just on one single batch.

  7. The very same thing happened to me today. Nag-deposit ako ng tumataginting na P23,000 via ATM (like I always do, same branch, same ATM machine). After inserting the bills, the monitor displayed “machine error” or something, sabay luwa ng ATM card, walang linuwang pera kahit man lang resibo. I immediately called 89-100 to report what just happened and the operator told me that it would take about 3 banking days to sort it out. I told them what if it’s an emergency and I needed the money right away?! Well, what I said was partly true. I deposited the money because I need to issue a check the following day. Grrrrr talaga. I almost had a heart attack I swear. This happened in the morning then I called the hotline again nung gabi to follow-up. So sabi ko baka naman pede i-expedite kasi big amount un. Ang sama lang sa pakiramdam, ung tipong hindi ka makatulog. Alam mo un? You know the money is just inside the ATM machine but how come hindi sya na-credit?! Argh.

    1. I know exactly how you feel. Parang lumipad ang limpak limpak na pera sa ere at hindi mo alam kung kelan sila babalik. Hay naku.. Yung mga ganitong inconveniences talaga ang pinaka-ayaw kong nangyayari tuwing nagta-transact ako sa mga ATMs. Halu-halo ang feelings. Hindi makatulog + gigil na gigil + gutom pero hindi makakain.

  8. Same thing happened to me back in 2008 also. I depostied 3k in their “real-time” deposit atm machine in Trinoma. Kinain yung pera ko tapos pinatawag at pinagreport ako ng paulit ulit. ok, gets ko, hindi ganung kalaki ang 3k pero pera parin yun. It took me around a month to recover my moneyt. asar. pinagpasa-pasahan ako ng mga call-center agents nila, tapos pinagfax ng paulit ulit. super asar talaga. kung iisipin, hindi ko kasalanan ang nangyari, kasalanan ng machine nila. Tapos ako ang nahirapan at naperwisyo. GGRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

    1. Grabeh talaga ang inconvenience kapag mga machines ang nagfe-fail noh? Hay naku naiintindihan ko ang lahat ng pinagdaanan mo. Kahit kasi maliit lang yung pera natin para sa kanila para sa atin sobrang halaga nun eh.

Same thing happened to me, nilamon ang 40K ko kahapon exactly 5:50PM, nag time-out yung machine due to long idle time kasi dadagdagan ko pa sana ng bills and there were only 2 options, continue or cancel, when I pressed continue nilabas lang card ko wala man lang receipt, then I checked the balance at hindi na credit sa account ko. Closed na bank pero buti may tao pa kaya I insisted na pumasok at nag file ng report kaagad. I have to wait 3 banking days daw. What’s scary is wala ka man lang pinanghahawakan na evidence na nag deposit ka, tanging cctv lang ng bldg at machine.

    1. Naku.. Ang laki naman ng ni-deposit mo! Ang sakit sa bangs! Huhu..

      Palagay ko talagang may problem ang programming ng BPI doon sa express deposit machine sa mas malaking amounts. Ganun nga ang nangyari din sa akin. Dahil nahirapan siyang mabilang naguluhan na siya kung anong susunod na gagawin.

      Don’t worry. I worked for a bank before. Kahit wala kang proof lalabas at lalabas yan sa general ledger system nila na meron silang natanggap na 40K na hindi na-credit. At sakto dahil nag-report ka kaagad, mababalik din sa iyo yun, in 3 “banking” days or more! Haha.. Sa akin kasi 5 “banking” days bago ko nakuha eh so sana sa iyo mas maikli. Hehe.. Good luck! Ngayon lalong mataimtim ang mga dasal mo for sure. Hehe.. ^__^

    sakin nga, kaka apply ko lng ng atm, wala pang 15 mins papalitan ko sana yung pin, kinain yung atm ko, tpos nagloko na yung machine, after nun tumawag ako sa phone, pagbalik ko ok na ulit yung machine, then hindi ko na alam kung niluha yung card ko, dami pa naman taong nandun, buti na lang at P100 lang laman nun haha, kaya tomorrow try ko mag passbook na lng, mas safe pa ata

      Problema lang sa passbook ang taas ng maintaining balance di ba? Pang-mayaman na lang yan ngayon eh. Hehe..

Hi, na feel ko rin ang same feelings last monday when i deposited 8000 sa bpi machine and then I reported it and they told me that i’ll be able to receive the money on my account by wednesday (June 20, 2012) unfortunately, wala pa cya kahapon, I will wait till 1pm later and then call the bpi teller who had helped me file my report. how sad talaga, i felt dissapointed. Im praying na mabalik talaga yung money. I feel a little good knowing na nabalik yung pera nyo. heheh. hoping for the best.

    1. Hi May Ann! Oo babalik yung pera mo for sure. Makikita nila sa system yung pinasok mong pera tapos hindi nag-reflect. Kaso mas maganda kung wag ka mag-expect ng day na darating dahil lalong nakaka-frustrate. Yung sa akin natagalan eh. Sana hindi na lang ako naghintay. Hehe..

      Kaka-frustrate yung ganitong mga experience ano? Kasi kahit sabihin natin na hindi malaki yun para sa bangko eh malaki yung pera para sa atin. Balitaan mo kami pag nakuha mo na. ^_^

  12. Hay, isa din ako sa mga nakainan ng atm. Glad to have visited ur site. At least dito may info. on what to expect or what to do.

    My problem is di ko sure kung magkano na naipasok ko. I can only declare the range. Twas also my fault siguro kasi ang bagal ko ayusin ang gusot ng mga bills.

    Side note: BPI teaches you how to be patient esp. Sa CSR nila. Ang tagal maka-connect!

    1. Exactly Franc! Yung ganyan talagang mga call center tinuturuan tayo na magkaroon ng soooooobrang mahabang pagtitimpi dahil wala ring mangyayari kung magagalit tayo. Yan ang natutunan ko sa experience kong yan. All we can do is follow up patiently and wait patiently.

      Wag ka mag-alala Franc, tulad ng mga experience namin eh bumalik din naman basta nakapag-file ka ng report kaagad para ma-trace nila kaagad yung transaction mo. ^_^

      Ngayon pa lang try mo na rin mag self-investigate kung magkano yung nideposit mo para magagamit mo yung info sa pagtulong sa kanila. Importante yun kasi nag-work ako sa bank dati at yung mga ganyang transaction ibe-base nila sa amount na ni-claim mo.

Try ko sana yung Deposit ATM Machine ng BPI since 1st time ko mag-dedeposit sa newly applied BPI Easy savers ko kaso after reading this post na worried ako baka imbes na tinipid ko sa baon ng ilang araw magkakaproblema pa ko kaka-update sa kanila. nahihiya kasi ako sa bangko magdeposit.. hehe.. Bago lang kasi ako sa pagSavings at sa pagkakaroon ng bank account.. ask ko lang pag sa loob ba ng bank need ba nasa envelope pag magdeposit? or kahit ibigay/i-abot na lang?
    Na-dismaya lang kasi ako after reading the post,malaking hassle pagnagkataon na mag-error at maintenance ang machine.. hehe.. thanks sa post mo nakakatulong talaga. :)

    1. Hi Maj! Pareho tayo. Hassle sa akin ang pag-deposit sa counter kaya magandang option sana itong express deposit machine.

      Ang totoo, hindi kita i-discourage na gamitin yan. Gamitin mo pa rin with caution. Payo ko sa iyo mag-try ka mag-deposit ng isang bill lang muna and see how it goes. Pakiramdam ko kasi kaya nangyari sa akin yan dahil ang dami kagad ng nilagay ko. Pero other than that gumagana naman siya sa iba ko pang transaction. Try mo hatiin or liitan yung pera. Wala naman silang limit sa kung magkano ang pwedeng i-deposit sa machines.

      Kung made-deposit ka through the bank, hindi na po kailangan ang envelope. Fill up mo lang yung deposit slip tapos pumila tapos sila na ang bahala from there.

  14. Whew! I tried it na this morning..dahil inosente ako muntik ng sumama yung daliri ko dahil gusto ko unat na unat yung money baka hindi kasi ma-read.. Hahaha.. tama I tried P100 tapos nung nagka-option ng ng add cash tska ko na dinagdagan.. pero I’ll take it parin as warning na puede paring mag-error ang machine anytime.   15. hello, just happened to me too yesterday at around 7:50PM, nag insert ako ng 12 pieces of 500 peso bill (6k) tapos nakita ko na mejo naipit sya pag sara dun sa lagayan. tapos nagdisplay lang ng Please Wait ng mga 2 mins and then hinila na ng machine yung pera I expected for the receipt which it should. Pera WALA!!! tapos lumabas na din yung card ko. huhuhuhu, kinabahan ako ng sobra. nag check kagad ako ng balance at di sya nadagdagan! :( gabi na kaya wala na din taga BPI na pwede mag assist. kaya nagmadali ako pag uwi para tumawag sa 89-100 and sabi ng phone banker na wait ko na lang daw ng 3 working days same as others here. so ngayun is the 1st day. Im praying na mabalik na yung pera ko. And right now im thinking of pulling out all my money in BPI :( im very disappointed :(

    1. Hi Patrick Star! Nakaka-disappoint talaga yung ganitong mga pangyayari. Nako naiintindihan ko lahat ng pinagdadaanan mo ngayon. At feeling ko pa yun ang pinaka matagal na 3 working days of your life anoh? Mabuti nga at sa umpisa ng week nangyari sa iyo. Yung sa akin end of the week so kasama pa ang weekend. Sana nga maging prompt sila at maibalik na sa iyo kaagad yung pera mo. Balitaan mo kami. ^_^

Thanks emilayskie, today is the 2nd day, kakacheck ko lang sa online account ko and di pa din nababalik. i will call them para mag follow-up mamaya. tanung ko lang po, naibabalik ba talaga? kasi wala akong evidence na pinanghahawakan dahil di naman nag print-out yung machine ng kahit na anong error notice. :(

    1. Mababalik yun Patrick. I worked in a bank before at ganyan mismong mga error yung kino-correct namin. Magre-reflect doon sa machine na may transaction pero dahil hindi mag-aappear sa account mo, disbalanse. Makukuha mo yun kaso matatagalan lang. Depende kung gaano talaga sila kabilis gumalaw.

      Yung sa akin nga more than 3 working days eh. Yung sa iba medyo mabilis. Swerte nila.

  17. Update: tumawag ako kanina, sabi nung nag report daw ako nung monday ng gabi eh considered tuesday na daw so bukas pa yung ika-3rd day. :( ganun pala yun. :( sana bukas okay na :)

  18. Hi miss emilayskie! Hi all! sa wakas nabalik din yung pera. feel so relieved :) kala ko matatagalan pa hehehe. well lesson learned din. Kapag gagamit po kayo ng express deposit ng BPI siguraduhing walang gusot or tupi yung bills. yung sakin kasi mejo tupi sa gulid because of my wallet. yun yung napansin ko nung nilagay ko yung pera, mejo sumabit dun sa tupi. Im so glad nababalik nila :)

    1. Hi patrick! HIndi kasalanan ng bills mo yun. Hehe.. Sa pag-design nila ng machine dapat anticipate nila yung ganun at kung mag-error man i-dispense back ang pera. Nagha-hardware malfunction talaga yung machine.

      Yung experience ko, lahat ng dineposit ko ay fresh galing din sa kabilang ATM eh. Straight lahat at walang gusot ang pera pero nag-hardware malfunction error. Problem ng system talaga nila. ^_^

Gives hope sa mga nakaka-experience din. :) I agree on you, kung mag-error man bakit di nga i-dispense, some programming trouble. nag try nga pala ulet ako kagabi pagka out ko from office hehehe. but this time a single 500 bill na bagong pera. nag display ulet ng matagal ng “Please Wait” tapos niluwa. pero yung kasunod ko nag lagay ng lumang 1000 bill, tinanggap. ayaw yata ng bagong pera. hehehe

      Oo ayos nga yung ganito at least lahat magkakaroon ng pag-asa na naibabalik naman. Hehe.. Kaso maghihintay nga lang talaga.

Hi everyone, As an additional detail, please avoid depositing on the machine by 10pm kasi may maintenance daw sila that time. haha. you may wonder why im depositing by that time. sometimes kasi nakakalimutan kung mag deposit earlier because i still go to dinner and chitchat with friends. I had deposited money on the machine, lucky me may receipt na lumabas pro i decided to still check my balance using the machine. ayun, nag hang yung machine and when i called bpi’s hotline. They said that they need to temporarily lock my ATM since they are doing the maintenance by that time so matatagalan pa bago lumabas yung atm and hindi raw safe na mag stay. :)

    I also had the same experience as you had, :) and nabalik naman yung money ko, pro what’s sad is you need to follow up pa talaga kasi kung hindi matatagalan bago makuha yung money.

  21. Guys, we also deposited 11,000php yesterday and the express deposit monster ATM ate the money without vomiting the receipT!! Why does this have to happen!!!!!!

    1. Naku Catherina pareho tayo ng tanong nung nangyari sa akin yan. Tinanggap ko na lang talaga na test of patience ang ganyang sitwasyon. Make sure you follow necessary steps to get it back. ^_^

    I experience the same situation because of their faulty express deposit machine as well
    I deposited my money sa Mall of Asia just this saturday, and it took everything without returning any receipt or confirmation that it acknowledged the money I deposited.
    may lumabas lang na runtime error then you can hear the machine keeps on rotating like its counting money, buti indi muna ako umalis, it took around 2-3mins bago nya nilabas yung atm card ko then to my suprise indi nadagdagan yung savings ko.
    I tried to deposit 1000 and it acknowledged it that time,
    I quickly check my account online and found out that it recognized my last transaction pero yung 14k ko wala.
    Im having sleepless nights so far, tsk
    tapos it cost me alot now in reaching their hotline, free daw for pldt subscribers but for mobile users hinde. i was on hold for more than 40mins and I’m using my mobile what a disappointment, haay
    im on my 1st day of the 3 days they alloted.
    sana maayos din agad within a week.
    i will never use that stupid machine again. haaay

  23. Hi jerico! Oo mabuti nga at nabasa mo ito at least alam mo hindi ka nag-iisa. Hehe.. At ang pinakamagandang news dun ay maibabalik din naman eventually yung pera mo. :D

    Minsan talaga reliable yung express deposit kaso ang pinakanakakaasar dun kung kelan kritikal at importante yung pag-deposit mo doon siya magmal-function. Kainis di ba?

  24. Wow! Such a relief to have found other people who experienced the same thing. I read all the comments. The same thing basically happened to me, and more! That very night, it spit out the money I put in with one bill TORN! So what I did was replace it with another bill. Then, it happened:

    “Transaction cancelled”.. “Machine unavailable”… NO RECEIPT :( I called right 89-100 right away and I was given a reference number and I’m calling again this coming Monday.

    Are there other necessary steps I need to make to further secure the return of my money?? Like should I still call the branch??

  25. Hi. Good thing I was able to bumped into this blog. Exactly what happened to me earlier. The BPI express deposit captured my cash without any notification that it was credited. It didn’t even askd for my PIN! I called 89100 but the operator told me that I have to wait for 3 bnkng days! But I can’t I will alrdy visit the branch on monday so that I can verify and get my cash worth 6k. Hoping for the best! I really am so worried. I only have a rcpt stating that it was a transaction error but it got my cash! Haaay..

    1. Hi Jing! Oo lahat nga tayo na nag-comment dito ganoon ang nangyari. Huwag ka mag-alala. Babalik din yang pera mo kaso made-delay lang talaga.

      Palagay ko hindi mo makukuha over the counter yung 6K mo. Gagawin lang ng branch ay ive-verify lang na on-going na yung investigation and process pero kailangan talagang hintayin.

      Pero sige i-try mo na rin. Malay mo nga naman pwede pala. Balitaan mo kami Jing. :)

    1. Hi mistiquemay! Usually instantly mace-credit na siya kaagad kung gumana ng tama yung machine. Real time update kasi yun. Tawag ka na kaagad sa BPI kung hindi pa rin pumasok.

  28. I feel you bro it happened to me a while ago. The machine said “Hardware Failure” after feeding with it with cash. I filed a complaint with my 2k deposit failure. They said it will be resolved in a week. I thought I’m the only one who had problems with the yellow machine. Cheers!

  29. may tanong po ako… maari po bang mag kamali ng pag biling ang machine sa pera na eediposit? kase po mag dedeposit sana ako… 5000= 4 na 500 at isang 1000, ang nilagay ko..binilang ng machine 3000 lng at yun lng din po yung bumalik.. hinde ko nlng po tinuloy ang pag deposit…

    1. Usually tama ang pagbilang ng machine pero siyempre may error calibration pa rin. When using this machine I suggest same denomination muna yung ideposit mo tapos next batch yung sunod para less possibility ng error. Pero designed to get different denominations talaga yan. Siguro nagkaroon lang ng problema somewhere.

I’ve waited for my cash to be dispensed pero di lumabas and when I tried to inquire balance at same atm machine, nag eerror xa and then I tried other machines, walng amount na credited. The officer said 2-3 days also.Nakakaphobia mag transact deposits via atm machine.

    Mahirap ang situation ko with bpi kasi 7 days na hindi pa rin pumasok pera ko. 18500php ang deposit ko tapos nag error. nag follow up na ako sa bpi kaso ang status is “transaction not found”. sabi ng manager baka mali ang time, yung nilagay ko na time is 4pm, ngayon nag requet ng reconsider ang manager at ginawa nyang 4:30pm. pero hanggang ngaun hindi pa rin pumasok ang pera ko? if hindi mag mamatch ang time hindi talaga makukuh ang money? tama nmn ang day ko , at regarding sa time interval 4-5pm talaga ang deposit time ko at sure ako doon. grabe nmn ang bpi :(

  32. yung nangyari sa akin, nag deposit ako then ok naman, then with the same bpi express deposit machine nag balance inquiry ako then ok pa din, upon reaching my house i transfer money to my brother in law, still nandun pa din deposit ko na 6000, then kinabukasan when i have to transfer again to my husband i found out na wala na yung 6000 deposit ko yesterday 12/11/13, ni report ko na kanina, hopefully ma credit na money ko, the good thing i have deposit receipt and balance inquiry receipt with only 1 minute apart sa time.

    1. Hi Malou! Grabe kakaiba naman yung case mo. Feeling ko nangyari nag-restore sila ng backup na wala doon yung transaction mo kaya naglaho. Don’t worry mababalik yun kasi mate-trace nila yun kaso kailangan lang ng taong magsisipag gumalaw to look for it. Balitaan mo kami.

    Kindly look into my problem. It’s been 3 banking days and I haven’t received any feedback from you. These is my reference number 1-xxxxxxxx from Bpi 89100.

    Last December 11, 2012 between 4 to 5 pm. I deposited cash at your atm deposit machine at Robinsons Tagaytay. I use my atm with account number 6xxxxxxxx. As I’m use to depositing at your machine. I did not even bother to count the money. But as far as I can recall..
    1st deposit is around 25k to 28k
    2nd deposit is around 5k to 8k
    I made the deposit in 2 succession. Since the atm will not accept the new bills. I throw the receipt and check my account the following day via online banking. To my surprise nothing was credited to my account.

    Kindly tell me what to do.Tell me If I need to go to the bank to help expedite the investigation. The money was hard earned money and badly needed.

    This problem is causing me sleepless night, anxiety and depression. I cannot function normally until my money is returned.

    Kindly update me on what’s happening. I left my contact number at 89100.

      1. My money was returned last December 24, after 13 days of calling and ranting at Bpi express phone and going at Bpi Summit Ridge Tagaytay twice. Never again will I use the machine for deposit.

    my story is like this…
    Pumunta ako ng BPI Express Deposit ATM… napansin ko na may nakalagay sa ATM na “this atm is offline” but since very eager akong madeposit ang money kasi I really need to pay some bills… =( so nagproceed pa rin ako… nagbalance inquiry mo na ko at first… then ok naman… so naisip na may possibility na functioning pa rin naman ung ATM… then proceed pa rin ako to deposit my 50K (50pcs of 1K, mix of old and new notes)… =( =( the machine just popped a message “please wait” then cguro more than 3 minutes na so kinabahan na ako until I cancelled my transaction… but un nga ndi nabalik ung 50K ko… then no receipt at all… I know partly my fault kasi may OFFLINE na deposit pa rin ako… =( but hopefully maibalik pa rin ung pera ko… UTANG ko pa naman un sa sister ko… then after ung roving guard from BPI daw approached me and reported to his boss what happen… sabi ni KUYA confidently na don’t worry daw ako kasi mababalik this sakin for sure ang pera ko… (sana!!!) after that i quickly call their hotline 89-100 but then sabi nga AFTER 3 BANKING DAYS… (christmas season pa naman!!!) so I need to wait until December27… pero sana talaga mabalik naman ung money… maloloka cguro ako pag ndi nila nabalik un…=(

    1. Hi demi! Katulad nga ng sabi ni manong guard, mababalik din naman ang pera dahil magre-reflect yun sa records na hindi balanse. May pumasok na 50K pero walang record. Mate-trace nila yun. Kaso matatagalan nga lang. Pag-pray mo na magsipag yung mga nagwo-work sa BPI para ayusin kaagad yung problem mo. :)

Na sabi 2 to 3 working days ang masama nun yun guard na nka duty dun e sabi daw sa knya nun tao asa loob ng bank that tyn eh hndi nmn daw dun ng dedeposit sobrang asar ko tlga sinagot ko sia naa sure ka mag 1 yr na kmi nag dedeposit dito ngumiti pa at same din kinain ang pera at wla resibo well maintenance daw sna mabalik agad yun this week

  38. Same thing happened to me last April 25, 2014 pa. Nagdeposit ako ng 3000. Kinain yung money then naghardware error, nilabas na yung card ko, this is the 5th banking day simula nung nagfile ako ng complaint at hindi pa nacredit kaya nagresearch ako at napadpad ako sa blog na ito. hahays puntahan ko naman mamaya sana macredit agad, buti nalang hindi ko sa bpi lahat dineposit money ko, hahays kakatrauma :( parang ayaw ko ng magdeposti thru machine.

    1. Oo nga Hannah I know how you feel. Parang ang hirap na pagkatiwalaan ulit yung makina after ng ganitong experience. And to think, 3000 lang yun ha? Pano pa yung bigger amounts? I would usually recommend breaking down to smaller transactions pero for me 3000 should already be a good amount. Bakit nag-hardware error pa? Grabe naman. I hope you get your money soon. Same thing happened to me last week :( nag deposit ako ng 5k tas after ko na ilagay yung pera at ma press yung deposit, bigla nalang nag machine unavailable then transaction cancelled at niluwa ang card ko and without the receipt:( i went to BPI office the day after sabi nila after 2-3 days daw, yesterday chineck ko balance ko, pero wala. so I went to their office again, sabi nung nag assist sa kin di raw nila mahanap ang transaction but i fo-follow up daw nia. Now I’ll have to wait for another 3 days. Pang enroll panaman sana yun. Kainis lang! :((

    1. Hi kiannkaj! Yung mga nasa teller area usually hindi talaga maa-access yung transaction mo kasi hindi magre-reflect yun sa front end. Kailangan nila i-forward sa IT nila na nasa back end mismo para mag-trace ng transaction mo. Don’t worry mababalik yan. Balitaan mo kami.

    Always sila nagpopromise ng date, Twice narin akong pumunta sa BPI. kainis..
    Natrauma na talaga ako sa machine, last time, kahit maraming tao, naghintay nalang ako.

    1. Hi Hannah I suggest gamitin mo pa rin next time pero wag isang bulk. Lagi mong hati-hatiin yung transaction para sure. 500 muna tapos 1,000 tapos 1,500. Kapag yun hindi pa pumasok ng tama ewan ko na lang. Haha..

  41. Hi, just want to share my experience with BPI Express Deposit Machine at Ayala FGU. I made a deposit last Friday on my sister’s savings account.Deposit should be made real time but the money was not credited until now. The transaction was successful and I even had a receipt dispensed from the machine. I already made a complaint at their branch but the teller said it will take 3 business days for them to trace where the money went. The teller also told me that they’ve received a lot of complaints because of that machine. The system’s supposed to be an easier alternative to the endless lines at their bank.

  42. Meron na bang case na hindi nabalik ang money? Until now kasi wala pa rin yung sa akin. And I’m about loosing my patience. 19 days na. Always akong nagfofollowup at always rin sila nagpopromise ng date. Nakakainis na! Grrrrr!

  43. thanks for this blog. napaka informative and right on time. nagdeposit kasi yung boyfriend ko ng 99k sa BPI EXPRESS DEPOSIT MONSTER kanina 05/20/14, around 5:30pm sa harrison rd. baguio city. nagpasok sya ng 99 pcs na 1000 pesos. and then bigla iniluwa yung card. afterwards it says “transaction error”. Chineck ng bf ko yung balance hindi lumitaw yung pera. so nagpanic na sya at sinabi sa security guard. sabi lang ng guard ” relax ka lang titignan kung may sobrang pera at gagawan ng report kaso 2x/week lang sila nagbubukas monday and thursday so next week na malalaman. ofcourse magagalit ang bf ko kasi parang wala lang sa guard yung nagyari. so sinabi ng bf ko na tawagin yung mga bank personnel para tulungan sya kasi malaking halaga yung nawala. and then lumabas yung assist. manager after more or less 30 min, di man nagapologize bagkus sinabi nya sa bf ko in a very iritated voice ” bat kaba nagagalit?” . hello obvious ba bakit? nawala yung pera nya ng ganun lang without even knowing san napunta or kung babalik pa ba or di na, and then itatanong nyo BAKIT SYA NAGAGALIT ?( BPI Harrison Road cor. Mabini St., Baguio City ) assist. manager and manong guard sana naman maging ACCOMODATING KAYO SA MGA CUSTOMERS NYO. KAYA NGA KAYO NANJAN PARA TULUNGAN KAMI SA MGA GANITONG SITWASYON. in the first place SYSTEM GLITCH YAN SA PART NYO. make sure makuha namin yung pera in 3 working days. and we’ll assure you “after this WE’RE NO LONGER BPI CUSTOMERS”

  44. This happened to me today. I sent my assistant to BPI IT Park Cebu to deposit 8K to my account (500×16). I gave her my atm card and told her to just use the machine since I knew that the bank will be closed and she wouldn’t need to know my pin anyway. I trust her and she deposited larger amount of money before on my behalf. She texted me as soon as she was done depositing and that she could only deposit 6K instead of 8k because the machine was rejecting the new bills. I can checked my account online and it wasn’t credited to my account yet, but I wasn’t worried and thought maybe it’s still being processed.

    She came back an hour later and gave my back my atm and 2k. She said the machine didn’t issue a receipt although she waited. I checked my account online again and it’s still not credited to my account so I called their call center. Their number for domestic calls doesn’t work so I had to make a long distance call to their hotline in Manila (extra gastos). It took forever just to get hold of an agent and I was told that there was no deposit made to my account at all. I then turned to my assistant and talked to her. I asked her to be honest with me and if did she or did she not deposit my money because it’s not credited to my account yet (and the whole drama conversation)… told her if she needed money, I could help her out and she didn’t need to take mine. She started crying and swore that she deposited my money and told me that there’s a camera on the machine and that it’ll prove that she really deposited the money.

    I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt for now. After all, if she really did that, why would she return the 2k (all 4 bills are new which is why the machine would reject them).

    I called the BPI hotline in Manila again (panibagong long distance call na naman) and insisted that there was really a deposit made to that account. They asked for some more details which I provided and I was told to wait for up to 3 days.

    Ang hirap nito, kung totoong kasalanan ng machine, forever na iisipin ng assistant ko na pinagdudahan ko sya. And if my assistant really took the money for herself, I will have to fire her ASAP, but “ASAP” is out of the question since it’s all up to BPI’s hands to clear these things.

    1. Hi Kay! I feel sad for your assistant. Sa situation kasi na ganito wala talaga siyang proof to provide that she did make the deposit. Ganyan nangyari sa aming lahat. Kinain lang yung pera without leaving any receipt. Buti nga at niluluwa pa yung ATM kahit papaano. Don’t worry mababalik yung pera mo and it’s not your assitant’s fault. I think you owe her an apology.

  46. Hi, ask ko lang kc ung friend ko na may union pay card nagtry magwithdraw sa bpi atm machine. Then all of the sudden bgla nalang kinain ung card nya. Will it be under bpi kame dapay magreport or sa union? As far as i know pwde naman i over the counter ung amount na nasa loob ng card as long as maverify na nandun pa ito eventhough wala pa ung replacement card tama ba? Your thoughts about this? Thanks

    1. Hi Jane! I think you have to report sa bank mo which is Union tapos report to BPI to get your card back. Not sure about over the counter withdrawals with Union Bank.

  49. This happened to me in BPI Lipa. I just went to the adjacent branch and filed a report immediately after it happened. Hopefully makuha ko na agad.

  50. After one banking day, I got the money credited back to my account. Tip: Choose BPI Express Deposit machines with bigger space to put your money in. The deposit machine where I encountered the problem was like a withdrawal machine (horizontal slot). It’s more difficult to place your money there, whereas if the deposit machine has a vertical slot (and a larger space), less issues would be encountered.

  52. this also happened to me sept 16 around 8pm, naghang yung machine. after 15mins, captured na yung card at money ko. the next morning sept17, nagpunta ako sa bank to report it, nakuha naman agad yung card ko then was advised not to use the card within 24hours. regarding sa money naman, within 4 working days pa daw yun. fortunately, nacredit na yung money today, sept18 ng hapon.

  56. I just read the comments here and I got really scared, I tried to withdraw 18k yesterday on a BPI ATM machine and it did not dispense money! I didn’t have any clue that it’s gonna fail because the guy before me on the queue was able to withdraw. And when it was my turn, it seemed to be fine at first because I was able to enter all the necessary information (pin and amount) and I even heard the machine as if it’s counting the money I am withdrawing. But to my dismay, the orifice where the money should supposed to be dispensed did not open and the ATM monitor displayed this odd error, something like “Restricted account/card…” and it just hanged. I looked and told the guard of the bank about it and said I could report it later because the bank is still closed. I waited for a couple of minutes and the guard actually placed an “Offline” sign on the ATM machine.

    Since I don’t want to wait there, I went home and called their hotline. Simultaneously, I was actually tweeting BPI because I’ve already been been waiting for 5-10 minutes and I’m still not getting through. But at the point when I was already exchanging DM’s, I was able to get through and reported the incident. I was told to wait 3 banking days to have it debited back to me. I gave the details of the transaction and I was “assured” that it’s going to be debited since the phone banker was able to see the transaction. I still felt so frustrated because the incident happened on a Friday and the first banking day will be 2 days after and it’s not like just 1k or even 5k, it’s 18k!

    My only hope now is that it will be resolved as promised because it happened on a BPI ATM machine and I’m a BPI customer as well. Unlike if it’s a different bank which will need bank-to-bank verification.

    I have a question, though I have asked my banker friends about this already, in what scenarios will the bank would not return the money given this situation? Thanks in advance.

    1. They would not return the money if they didn’t see any transaction on the date and time you reported. Pero kung genuine naman na nangyari yun, lahat ng transaction ng ATM whether successful or not will reflect so rest assured mababalik sa iyo yun depende sa bilis nilang mag-investigate.

      1. Update: I called BPI this afternoon and the phone banker that I was able to talk to confirmed that the money will be credited back to my account anytime tomorrow. Thank God! Maha-heart attack yata ako kung hindi hehe

  62. bigla tuloy ako natakot sa mga nababasa ko.
    kanina kasi mag withdraw kame 20k bigla nlang nag log ang machine at walang lumabas na pera at may lumabas na resibo pero walang nkasulat..
    nag balance kme sa kabilang machine nabawasan kame ng 20k..sobrang sama ng loob ko at mangiyak ngiyak hanggang ngayon diko alam ano gagawin ko..
    ung pera na un niloan pa ng mister ko pra pambayad utang tapos mawawala na ganun na lang..
    pero timwag nadin kame sa hotline ng bpi..at maghintay din kame 3days at ung guard na andun alam nya kung ano nagyari ..sabe ng guard bukas daw ng uamga kame bumalik..
    kaya sobrang sama tlga ng loob ko ngayon…

  64. Last Monday (March 2, 2015). I went to BPI Nueno Avenue Branch, City of Imus, Cavite to deposit 6,000 pesos as the partial payment for my tuition fee in masteral. I decided to use the yellow machine (express deposit) coz’ I was on a lunch break that time and I still have to catch up to meet my student for our class in a nearby college and the line of numbers is so long. So i inserted 6 one thousand bill. So when the time that the machine suppose to count my money…Suddenly, an error in the screen just came up. It says “Hardware Failure” and advised me to call 86-100. So that time I was so pissed coz’ I was in a hurry. Since I was already inside the bank a ask the guard what to do and told me to report it to the customer service. Still, I have to wait for my turn to be assisted. when I ask the customer service in the bank what to do, he told me to fill up and apply a report form. and promised me to have my money within 5 working days. I was so pissed that time and left the bank with the reference number that he gave me.
    And after the 3rd day around 10 in the evening I finally got my money back credited in my account.

    Lesson learnt now. Still a machine can fail sometimes

Nangyari naman po saken today march 17 2015.,nagwidraw ako para sa pamasahe ko pauwe,lumabas ung pera pati receipt,laking gulat ko nung makita ko sa balance ung maintaining balance ko ay zero,eh malaki pa ung laman na pera un,paano nangyari un.?   66. ako.. kse nag hang lang at wala man lang resibo na lumabas.. Lapit bigla yun guardya at nilagyan ng out of order sign yun ATM sabay hirit ng tanong ano raw ginawa ko nanyare yun? nakakabad trip lang ako na nga nawalan yun pagkakasabe nyana parang nanisi pa di ko na binara kse yun nag online uli yun machine na parang walang nangyare dun sa hinulog ko, sabe nun sekyu ireport ko raw dun customer service sa loob.. hayy nag over the counter nlang sana talaga ako kung alam ko lang open pa..

    Ok naman pag assist nun teller, gave her the details, had me fill out a little paperwork then handed me a sheet of paper as reference tapos advised me the time frame when the disputed amount would be credited to my account, but yep.. best case scenario lang ata yun sinabe 3 days maayus na lahat.. I was able to access the money give or take a week pa after… What’s worse is that hindi pa kumpleto kase kulang ng 1000.00PhP yun ibinalik saken, 3000PhP lang kse yun credit.. kaya bumalik pa ko sa branch uli to thank them pero cyempre contest yun short.. and para di raw sayang effort coordinate nlang ako sa kanila over the phone, week 1 came to pass of dialing them day by day na kung hindi fax tone yun number wala progress na mabigay both the clerk and even the manager, kase internal daw yun electronic department or something na nag proprocess mga ganito issues.. Sumuko na ko sa pangungulit dun sa branch kase i eescalate nlang daw nila sa general office customer service.. Naka ilan tawag at ubos oras na rin ako getting in touch sa 89-100, pero parang mas walang kahahantungan kse everybody I talked to always says they’ll be working on it but inconsistent lage yun info that I get from what one agent that I get to the next one I speak with, that’s why parang its just always back to zero everytime I ask them for help regarding this matter.

    Finally, Sorry for the uber long cry out, sigh… 19 days yet still counting and wondering kung ibabalik pa nila yun money ko, frustrating lang sobra kase na I really love doing business with BPI kase they have good branches, products and services nila pero I’d rather go bank somewhere else din if nothing happens this coming week, anyway I’ll wait pa rin thanks to your again for the post. nagka heads up ako it may even go up to 20+days.     1. Nyeh ano ba yan. Nag-refund tapos kulang? Parang movie lang ah. Tinimbang ka ngunit kulang. Hehe.. Alam mo sa totoo lang, kaya hindi nila alam kung kelan dahil yung mga nasa customer service hindi alam ang totoong proseso sa ilalim.

      I suggest maghanap ka ng common friends na makakapag-connect sa iyo sa IT ng BPI kasi sila ang naghahawak ng ganyang mga kaso directly. Hihimayin nila yung failed transactions mo at sila lang makakapag-confirm kung may kulang nga at sila rin ang magi-issue ng pagbalik sa iyo. Walang mangyayari talaga kung puro tawag lang minsan eh. Pareho lang din sasabihin nila.

I put in all the cash when the bin slot opened, pero it did not take siguro kase gusot konti yun pera, medyo di ko rin naayus maige yun pera kamamadali ko, pero I retried for the 2nd time and put in 2x1000PhP bills muna then success! It showed accepted tapos and it even flashed a breakdown and the total of how much I keyed in so far, after nun I opted to press “Yes” when it gave me the choice the to make an additional deposit nun.. and then when the deposit slot opened up, I immediately placed inside the remaining 2000PhP(1x1000PhP + 2×500.00 ) whichI had onhand… Mga after less than 10 seconds lang , Hayun.. biglang sabe sa screen “Machine Unavailable”.. napa nga nga nalang

Kanina kamamadali ko, nakalimutan kong kunin sa machine yong ni-withdraw kong 10k, pero hindi ko sure kung may na dispense bang pera o wala kasi sobrang kama madali akala ko na kagaya ko na yon pera sa bag ko, naalala ko na lang noong nasa loob na ako ng bank kasi magdedeposit din sana ako, may 6 min na rin si guru nong maalala ko at balikan ko yong atm sa labas ng bank to check my cash kaso wala na, not sure kung may nakuhang iba or wala lang talaga ng nadispensed. Nireport ko agad at sabi ng nag-assist, pag di nakuha yong pera sa machine within 5 seconds, kuha daw papas ok ulit yon sa loob ng machine, sana nga ganon na lang nangyari at walang nakakahiya kasi wala namang ibang na kasunod sa akin kanina, hayys😕

Nabasa ko lahat ng comments dito sa blog… as usual kaya din po ako napadpad dito sa blog na ito ay dahil sa parehas na dahilan, nagdeposit ako sa BPI Trinoma gamit yung express deposit (10,600), lagi naman nangyayari doon na laging may return cash kasi hindi mabasa, pagkapalit ko ng bill nag machine error na then lumabas yung card ko pero walang receipt at naiwan yung pera ko sa machine, buti may guard pa 7pm … sabi itawag ko sa hotline… 1 1/2 hours ako nakahung walang sumasagot sa akin. nung may kausap na ako hiningi sa akin location ng machine and Terminal ID which is naisulat ko kasi naisip ko hahanapin nila yun… hayz parang gumuho ang mundo dahil duedates lahat bills araw na eto… paano kung wala ako konti pera natira d na ako makakauwi…hayz. sana maibalik naman soon.

  70. the same thing happened to me, today (may 29, 2015) at around 9 pm, In Malabon Branch, Nagdeposit ako ng 20k na tag 1k bills. then nag add pa ako kasi maglalagay pa ko ng another 3100 bills unfortunately yung 1k nagstock dun sa machine, sa taranta ko kinuha yung 2100 then yung 1k bill try ko tanggalin and then after nun click ko un cancel button then “please wait” lng tpos nilabas yung card ko……. tpos tinignan ko yung account ko same pa din nun dati hindi nadagdag yung 20k ko, at yung 1k na kinain ng machine. nagtry ako ulit kasi sabi ng guard baka daw late lng hintay lng ng 5 mins… then after couple of mins nagtry ulit ako mag bal inquiry at ganun pa din yung amount. then out of curiosity nagdeposit ulit ako ng 2100, at yun lng ang nagreflect sa account ko kasama yung money na nandun na prior ako magdeposit today….. tumawag ako sa call center hotline ng BPI ng napakatagal. buti nalang yung guard ng bpi malabon branch may contact sa branch officer manager ata nila yun. and pinagawan ako ng written report ipapasa daw nya sa bank manager nila dahil on meeting pa daw sa main branch kikitain nalang daw nya para maibigay un incident letter, not sure if binigay nga nya, kaya tumwag at naghintay ulit ako sa BPI Hotline, nun may nakausap na ko na agent sabi nya after 3 days daw nga usually maibbalik un pera…. sobrang lutang ako kanina kasi hindi ko alam kung ano mangyayari sa 21k ko kung maibabalik ba o ano, at ang masakit pa dun pera ng asawa ko un para sa loan nya pinahawak lng sken dahil idedeposit nmin un sa ibang bank, sa monday pa nman yung banking operations nila…. nadedepressed ako kasi 2 araw pa bago ako maka usap un mga taga banko na incharge sa mga ganong cases…. buti nlang atleast nakatulong sken itong blog na ito na mwala khit papano un takot at depression na baka hindi maibalik sken un pera ko. sana by nextweek makuha ko na yung 21k ko :(

  71. Hello guys. Same situation happened to me. I deposited the amount of 63k pero yun 1k naipit pa ayun nakaen na lahat walang recibo pa. Nakakadisappoint kasi kailangan nila yun pera mas naging inconvience yun process.Then I immediately reported it to the teller she made some report regarding of what happen. Ang sabi 3 days daw bago makuha. Tanong ko po sila na po ba magdededpost dun na dederetso sa atm card ko?. Nangyrie po kahapon lang mga 11:30 am po.

    1. Basta, Nabigay mo yung complete details sa report how much deposit, specific time and terminal (or branch) sila na bahala mag investigate then automatically credited to your account

Sa Bpi branch kasi mag fill out ng form, i forward pa , wait pa reply sa kanila etc. Ako ginawa ko report sa 89-100 yung COMPLETE details after 24 hours nabalik naman. Sabi kasi nila usually 3 days to a week para maibalik yung pera e, napakahassle lalo nat kailangan ng mga tao yun kaya mga gumamit ng express deposit e.

  72. Nangyari dn skn knina around 11.20am. Sa BPI zapote las pinas. Nag deposit ako 1k sa yellow machine kasi bpi main ung bank eh bpi family savings ako. So para di na lalayo
    Pa. Ayun nung nilagay ko n ung pera sa slot may tupi sya s right part kasi nga galing sa wallet ko nakaipit pa s atm kc for deposit. Aausin ko sana ung pera pro
    Nag close na sya. Then
    Bmukas ulit error ata kasi nga may tupi. Kkunin q sana kaso ng close sya ulit tas dun na nag error ang tgal na ndi pdn nag ookay. So cnancel q na ung transaction kaso ung pera ko ndi nilabas ang tgal nung machine n para bang nagbbilang ng pera. Tnwag q ung guard para mag tanong pnag balance nya ako kaso nga ndi p dn pmpsok. Pnapunta nya ako s desk pra mag file sa employee mabuti nlng fri ngaun at may bank employees. Sabi try daw bukas kasi ggwn nila agad action, pag wla pdaw twagan q dw cla s monday. Sana nga meron n bukas wag n umabot s monday kc kht small amount pnghrpan pdn un.

    1. Okay naman yung mga machine on a good day. Suggest ko lang wag masyado lalakihan yung deposit at siguraduhing straight yung bills bago ipasok sa machine. Hirap talaga kasi hindi nila masyado ni-test yung machines nila. Ang daming bugs and errors.
